Hey guys, Max here. Wildfires is a done deal. Adam Harris, Jeremy Randazzo, and Mike Boyne are gonna be killing it together in the near future under a different name, which is sure to be a promising lineup. Keep an eye out for those dudes! Additionally to those 3, I'd like to thank everyone who has ever been a part of Wildfires in any way: Jon Romein, John Stephens, Dayton Castleman, Grant LeBlanc, Dave Graeff, Tyler Harper. Also: all the dudes in Moose and every band we've ever played with, Judd Kennedy and everyone at Sadie's Niteclub, Ashley Trahan, Broken Art Recordings, Sleazy Lee for bringing us to Mississippi that one time, Justin @ 1126 (R.I.P.), everyone who's floors we've slept on, the Rouse's management team for dealing with our hectic scheduling, Matt @ Siberia, and quite literally anyone who has ever thought of or spoken about this band in a positive light. Hopefully some of the things "said" throughout the lyrical content of our 15 released songs will serve as a document of a dark place, a developing mind, an intense feeling of estrangement and betrayal, and that some of you will be able to find comfort in knowing that we're all human. It's been a great run, Thanks.

Please welcome bassist Mike Boyne to the band. Mike is from Morgan City. He played Football in high school. Since then, Mr. Boyne has done time in such bands as Jupiter Death Brigade, Come & Conquer, and Touchless Automatic. He looks like a swamp viking. He smokes Kools. His first show will be after the Lizaveta show. Tyler Harper, we love you, and appreciate the time you put into the band. See you soon, buddy.

for those that weren't at the bisbano's show this past saturday, we played for the first time ever without a bassist. this was because we are going through a slight lineup change which was decided upon not long before the day of the show. instead of canceling we decided to just do our best as a three piece. we will start working in the low end side of the band within the next week. we will also be playing the stinking lizaveta show as the three piece lineup. all shows after this will include the new bassist, who is actually a swamp viking. this puts a temporary restraint on some of the writing we were planning on doing, but it shouldn't set us back too far. just wanted to let everyone know what's going on. we have no intentions of slowing down at any point in the foreseeable future. if anything, we plan on getting busier. see you all soon.

we had a great time in new orleans last night. siberia is one of the coolest venues i've ever played at or gone to or gotten wasted in. benny hare is an old buddy, matt (owner) of tirefire is a straight up dude, daphne the bartender was a fucking sweetheart to say the least, the dudes in LET THE NIGHT ROAR were super cool bros. we got to new orleans early and ate/drank at a fancy taco/rum place that brought out plates of food that looked more like art than anything else. after that we checked out a record shop and then headed over to siberia. we began drinking on the street before the venue was open. lots of cutting up, making jokes, taking pictures, etc. i, personally, woke up in ashley's car and had no idea how i got there, nor did i have any recollection of how the night ended, but that's just new orleans for you.

the best thing to come out of the trip....landing a spot opening for motherfuckin' FLOOR on may 2nd at siberia! super pumped about that. it's very exciting and rewarding to be playing with bands that we listen to on our own time, on a regular basis. hope things keep going at this rate!

on another note, we most likely won't be releasing the fear will rust EP in physical form now, or perhaps ever, yet it's there on our 'free album downloads' page, so eat it up. we've decided to focus more on writing a new album, perhaps more of a full length than the usual EP lengthed albums we've released. we have 3 new songs completely written, and 1 other one currently being worked on. lots of new influences coming out in the song writing, especially with the addition of adam. things are going great! see you all soon.

RIP Whaus shows

tyler, jeremy, and i (max) found a cool pad to move into a month or so ago. our intentions were to practice as often as our jobs would allow and throw as many house shows as possible. everything seemed great for a while with the house shows. we didn't get to do too many of them, but the couple we had were great times, and we appreciate everyone who came out for showing our house such respect and courtesy.

we really try so hard to actively participate and give back to our small lafayette scene as much as possible. we've put together copious amounts of shows for out of town bands in need, and we were excited as possible to be opening our house to the scene for the all ages crowd, close friends, and anyone who wanted to take part.

it always seems in this small town, that when we finally get to a point where we're making somewhat of a difference and generating some buzz, that someone has to shake their finger at us and make us kneel on rice in a corner for getting out of line. this is one of the many reasons we'll be relocating within less than a year. living in a place with no venues for heavier music, few decent/bigger acts passing through, and landlords that fall short of tolerating DIY house shows is just downright depressing, and our potential outside of the band as independent show bookers, promoters, house show operatives, and the like go without respect from the general "grown adult" population.

it doesn't mean we're going to quit helping out everyone we can. the day we stop giving back to whatever scene we are a part of is the day we break up. which won't be any time in the near future.
let's keep the scene love going, whether it's a teaspoon or a kilo.

one of those exciting show announcements we were talking about...

not to mention march 21st at frankie's with tombs, wormrot, and more; april 2nd at siberia with suplecs; and june 20th at whaus with bone dance, former thieves, and twin cities. super pumped about all these awesome opportunities coming up. hope to see you guys at these shows!

Friday, March 18, 2011

so we got featured on stereokiller.com's artists of the week along with some other bands such as focusedxminds, despise you, and a389 recordings. pretty cool that we're starting to get some small, yet still rewarding tastes of recognition.

we've been talking about possibly not pressing fear will rust. "not" as in not right now. you can download it here for free, burn it for yourself, burn it for whoever else you feel needs to hear it, etc. we could definitely use the money we'd spend on pressing them on things like out of town shows and other such things.

we scored a show on april 2nd at siberia in nola with suplecs. bone dance and former thieves will be passing through and playing at our whaus in june. check the shows page. a few other bigger things in the works as well. more to come.

this show is going to be awesome. it's a great pleasure to play with a band that we're also fans of.

before this show, make sure to catch us on monday, march 7th at 163 jomela in lafayette with many other bands for a lundi gras celebration. on tuesday, march 8th, mardi gras, we will be playing with a handful of other bands at the dust bowl in lafayette. on march 11th we'll be playing at bisbano's with change today, shark bait, and twin cities. march 21st is the TOMBS show. on the 25th and 26th we'll be in mississippi with mission vs madness, and to close out that weekend tour we'll be playing a big show at frankie's on sunday, march 27th. check the shows page for more dates.

aside from shows, we have been writing quite a bit of new material. besides our one new non-album song, we currently have 3 others in the works. we haven't spoken of a timeframe for the next recording, but it should be around summer or so, and will most likely lean towards a full length/lengthy EP. all of course is tentative and no plans have been made, but knowing us, it won't be long before we're back on the saddle, laying down the new songs.

just a reminder that t-shirts will now be $5 at shows, we have only a handful of 'qualms' and 'within realms' left, and plenty of free stickers. if you want a shirt and both cd's, it's only $10. get at us, we're broke.
